All-new 2022 Perodua Alza to be launched in Malaysia on July 20

Mark your calendars, as the national carmaker has just announced via its Facebook page that the 2022 Perodua Alza will make its official debut on the 20th of June. The all-new MPV will be revealed via a livestream on its social media channels, starting at 12pm this coming Wednesday.

Order books for the all-new 2022 Perodua Alza has opened since last month, with three variants on offer. Estimated pricing for the seven-seater MPV starts at RM62,000 for the X, moving up to RM68,000 for the H and RM75,000 for the range-topping AV variant.

Based on the all-new Toyota Avanza, all three variants of the all-new 2022 Perodua Alza will be powered by the same 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i naturally-aspirated inline-four engine, paired to a D-CVT gearbox. The powertrain is most likely the same unit found on the latest 2021 Perodua Myvi facelift, and is rated for an output of 101 hp and 136 Nm, with drive sent to the front wheels.

As for equipment, all variants – including the entry-level X – will come equipped with LED headlights, although the higher-end H and AV gets an additional adaptive driving beam function, alongside sequential turn signals.

The all-new Alza also gets digital air-con controls as standard across all variants, alongside rear air con blowers (with manual controls), four airbags, and most importantly, the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) that includes autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and prevention, as well as auto high beam across the board.

Moving up to the H variant will net you an additional seven-inch multi-info display in the instrument cluster, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment display, reverse camera, front parking sensors, auto retractable wing mirrors, as well as rear armrests on the second-row seats.

As for the range-topping AV, it gets all the “luxury” items including a two-tone semi-leather upholstery, electric parking brake with auto brake hold (a first in a Perodua), two additional airbags (six), and a 360-degree surround-view monitor (also a first in a Perodua). The advanced safety kit also gets a boost in features, including the addition of adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitor, and rear-cross traffic alert.
