New Toyota Veloz open for booking in Malaysia – to replace Toyota Avanza

UMW Toyota Motor has announced that the all-new Toyota Veloz, which will be locally-assembled to replace the Toyota Avanza, is now available for booking. The Toyota Avanza was introduced locally in 2004 and UMW Toyota Motor has sold over 178,000 units.

The Veloz was launched in Indonesia in November 2021 followed by Thailand earlier this year.

The Toyota Veloz will be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine paired to a 7-speed CVT gearbox. As it is the 2NR-VE engine, it’s safe to assume that the 1.5-litre engine will produce 107 hp and 140 Nm to drive the front wheels.

What has been revealed so far on the exterior is that the Toyota Veloz will feature LED headlamps with sequential turn indicators, with five different exterior colour options available – Blue Metallic with Black Roof, Silver Metallic with Black Roof, Red Metallic, Metallic Bluish Black, and White.

Also available in the Veloz are features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through a 9-inch touchscreen, electronic parking brake with brake autohold, wireless charging and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Bootspace is rated at a generious 498 litres.

Toyota Safety Sense driver aids will also be available; offering features such as autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

There was no mention on how many variants will be available although UMW Toyota listed an estimated price of RM95,000.
