Facts & Figures: 2021 Perodua Myvi facelift unveiled – from RM45,700

Four years after the third-generation Perodua Myvi was first unveiled, our very own Malaysian “supercar” has now received its first major facelift for 2021, featuring a brand new front fascia and even more tech.

The 2021 Perodua Myvi facelift will be offered in four variants – G, X, H, and AV – with prices ranging from RM45,700 up to RM58,800 for the range-topper.

EXTERIOR

The main highlight of the 2021 Perodua Myvi’s facelift can be found on its front end, featuring a completely redesigned face from top to bottom. The grille is now enlarged, with a slim chrome strip running across connecting the two headlights, which has also been redesigned for a slimmer and more angular styling.

Further below, the new Myvi facelift also gets a new front bumper characterised by its multi-faceted angular look, while the new vertical daytime-running lights (H and AV) bookends the bumper. On higher-end variants (H and AV), there’s also an aggressive splitter at the bottom featuring a chrome strip to complement the lower grille opening.

Moving over to the rear, the new bumpers mirror the front-end’s design with the use of angular slats around the number plate cut-out. A vertical trim lines the edges of the bumper to mimic the new DRLs up front, although the trims here are purely for aesthetic purposes only.

There’s also a new wing mirror cover, now in gloss black, but everything else on the outside is unchanged from the pre-facelift model, including the wheels – 14-inch items on the 1.3 G variant, and 15-inch wheels for the rest.

PERFORMANCE

While the engine underneath the bonnet – both the 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre units – are unchanged from before, the big upgrade here is the new D-CVT (Dual-mode Constantly Variable Transmission) that replaces the ageing four-speed automatic box from the pre-facelift model.

The new gearbox promises a 20% faster 0-100 km/h sprint time, and a 5% reduction in fuel consumption on both models.

INTERIOR

While the dashboard architecture of the new 2021 Perodua Myvi facelift remains unchanged from before, it does get quite a significant update in terms of equipment, with of course, the range-topping AV getting all of the goodies.

Most noticeably, the steering wheel has been switched out with a new unit that’s taken from the Perodua Ativa. The instrument cluster on the AV variant also gets a new TFT coloured multi-info display in the centre replacing the older LCD monotone unit.

Specific to the two higher-end variants (H and AV) is also the larger 6.9-inch centre infotainment display sourced from the Ativa; the G and X variants retain the same digital head-unit from the pre-facelift model.

Other additions to the range-topping AV variant on the new 2021 Perodua Ativa include the leather-wrapped seats with red accents – the same red touches can also be found on the dashboard surrounding the air-con vents.

SAFETY

The hero feature of the new 2021 Perodua Myvi is undoubtedly its new set of advanced driver assistance features. Available across the board (optional on 1.3 G) is the updated Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 3.0 system, which includes:

  • Reverse Camera

Other safety features include four (G, X) and six (H, AV) airbags, solar and security window film (H, AV), front-facing dashcam (AV), auto door locking and unlocking, rear parking sensor, and front parking sensors (H, AV).
