Hyundai to launch 8-seater Palisade SUV in Malaysia next month

As Hyundai Sime-Darby Motors (HSDM) confirmed in March, it will introduce its flagship seven or 8-seater in Malaysia next month. The Palisade is now open for booking and will be the first full-sized Hyundai SUV to be launched in Malaysia.

“The Hyundai Palisade will be a new contender in the E-segment SUV, boasting cutting-edge technology, a host of advanced safety features including Hyundai’s Smartsense, ample space, and an elegant design. It is Hyundai’s largest SUV with a long wheelbase. Its practical all-purpose built is great for off-roading, road trips and even for daily use,” said HSDM, Managing Director, Mr. Low Yuan Lung.

In terms of dimensions, the Palisade is longer than the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE although the German SUVs are wider. Wheel sizes range from 18-inches all the way to 20-inches while front and rear lighting are LEDs.

The Palisade will arrive as a fully-imported (CBU) unit from South Korea with either seven or eight-seater configurations.

On the inside, the Palisade is available with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, 10-inch infotainment system with a 16-speaker surround-sound system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, panoramic roof, surround-view monitor, and wireless charging, although it remains to be seen which of these features will be available in our local model.

The Palisade also features an industry-first, roof vent diffuser design that can provide a focused, partially-diffused, or fully-diffused stream of air to rear passengers.

In terms of powertrain options, the Palisade is available either with a 3.8-litre naturally-aspirated V6 with 295 hp and 355 Nm or a 2.2-litre turbo diesel 4-cylinder engine 200 hp and 440 Nm. Both engines are paired to an 8-speed automatic.

Safety systems available include autonomous braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitor, lane following assist, rear cross traffic alert, high beam assist and adaptive cruise control with stop-go.
