Video: 2021 Peugeot 5008 Allure facelift launched in Malaysia, 5 Things

Bermaz Auto Alliance, the new sole distributor for Peugeot vehicles here in Malaysia, has just launched the new 2021 Peugeot 5008 facelift in Malaysia as part of its two-car entrance into the market alongside the 3008.

Just like its smaller sibling, the new locally-assembled Peugeot 5008 will only be offered in a single Allure variant, priced at RM177,312 on the road, without insurance, and inclusive of the sales tax exemptions.

The Peugeot 5008 and 3008 are essentially based on the same car, and thus share the same unchanged 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four engine that supplies 165 hp and 240 Nm of torque to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox. Peugeot says that the 5008 does the 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.9 seconds, onward to a top speed of 205 km/h.

Also shared is the 5008’s new front-end design, headlined by the “borderless grille” design and Peugeot’s signature lion fangs daytime-running lights. Over at the rear, the LED tail lights get a new three-dimensional claw design, alongside new sequential turn indicators.

The third row seats meanwhile can be fully folded and tucked away underneath the cargo floor, allowing for up to 962 litres of cargo space at the back.

New to the Peugeot 5008 facelift is also the larger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display on top of the dashboard, with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, alongside a new Qi wireless charging pad for your mobile phones.

Included in the RM177k asking price of the Peugeot 5008 is a five-year/100,000 km warranty, alongside a three-year/60,000 km free scheduled service programme.
