New 2021 Perodua Myvi to come with L2 autonomous driving capabilities!

With the new Perodua Myvi facelift now officially open for bookings, the usual pre-launch drip feed of information has now begun. Today’s entry on Perodua’s social media feed gave us a closer look at the Myvi’s new instrument cluster with red accents, alongside its new steering wheel.

Looks familiar? That’s right – that’s the same steering wheel as seen on the Perodua Ativa, and the buttons on the right suggests that the new Myvi will also feature the full PSDA advanced driver assistance systems, including level 2 autonomous driving capabilities!

These new features (Lane Keep Control, adaptive cruise control) should be limited to only the range-topping AV variant, but still pretty impressive for a car that’s priced below RM60,000. Perodua does say that the ASA 3.0 system will be available across the board, though that should be watered down to “just” the basic features such as autonomous emergency braking.

Other buttons on the steering wheel include a new power button, which should help perk up the engine and throttle response (and further hints at the heavily-rumoured CVT gearbox), alongside a set of media controls and voice assistant button for the new touchscreen infotainment display that we saw in the earlier teasers.

Perodua says that the new Myvi will be priced from RM45,700 to RM58,800, which are on-the-road prices, without insurance, and inclusive of the sales tax exemptions that have recently been extended to June 2022. Which means it’s a roughly RM3,000 to RM6,000 price hike over the pre-facelift model.

Do the new advanced driver assistance features justify the price hike, or are you hoping to see even more upgrades in our Malaysian king of the highway? Let us know in the comments below!

As usual, the teasers will keep coming in until the official launch, so keep your eyes peeled on our site! To read more on the previously-announced information for the new Perodua Myvi, check out our earlier coverage here.
