Sime Darby Motors launches new one-year subscription programme for group employees

Sime Darby Motors (SDM) today launched its Employee Mobility at Ease Programme (EMAEP), a new subscription programme designed specifically for all employees of Sime Darby Berhad and its subsidiaries in Peninsular Malaysia.

The programme is billed as an “innovative mobility solution”, promising greater accessibility and flexibility to owning selected SDM franchise cars and used cars, with minimal or zero down payment.

Just like a normal subscription service, the programme offers Sime Darby employees the convenience of owning a car, without the usual hassle of traditional car ownership such as depreciation costs. The fixed monthly fee not only covers the car, but also insurance, road tax, scheduled maintenance, as well as general wear and tear.

What the programme stands out apart from the other consumer-facing subscription services, though, is that the lock-in period (or subscription term) is only a brief one year. Upon completing the tenure, the employees can then choose to either upgrade or switch to different models based on their needs.

The cars from the EMAEP programme will then head to Sime Darby’s used car arm, Sime Darby Auto Selection‘s (SDAS) inventory, ensuring a constant supply of used cars to be sold off to the general public.

Commenting on the launch of EMAEP, SDM Malaysia’s Retail and Distribution Managing Director Jeffrey Gan said, “The modern marketplace is asking for mobility solutions, not just transportation and EMAEP is the logical response to society’s changing mobility needs. EMAEP guarantees mobility and the joy of experiencing a new car every year, with peace of mind.

“SDM is constantly looking at ways in which we can leverage on our expertise and customer know-how to elevate our value proposition. This programme addresses customer’s wants for convenience and choice but also complements our existing initiatives by SDAS to provide consistent and quality used car supply,” he added.

SDAS recently launched its new online used car shopping platform, allowing customers to search from a wide range of high quality used cars, from used to nearly new vehicles. The cars on the platform are also not just limited to SDM’s stable of franchise brands.

Additionally, SDAS also offers after sales service for cars sold through their platform, thanks to the new multi-brand service centre in Glenmarie, Selangor. There’s also a new Extended Warranty programme available for pre-owned cars on its platform, offering extra piece of mind for customers.
