Gallery: 2021 facelift Mercedes-Benz E 200 Avantgarde

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently launched the new facelift E 200 Avantgarde and with the invitation of Cycle and Carriage Mutiara Damansara, we got to take a closer look at it in their showroom.

The first thing you’d notice are the drastic changes to the headlamp and taillight designs which are now sleeker and more futuristic. You obviously get LED lighting system, with adaptive high beam assist but the more sophisticated Multibeam LED headlamps are only reserved for the E 300.

Unlike the sporty exterior of the E 300 AMG Line, the E 200 Avantgarde has a simpler, more elegant look with a more subdued body kit. We’d even argue that the 18-inch wheels look better than the 19-inch set on the E 300.

To really differentiate between the E 200 and E 300, Mercedes-Benz has even gone to the extent of designing different grille shapes; hexagon for the E 200 and trapezoid for the E 300.

The distinctions between the E 200 and E 300 are even more apparent in the cabin. The former gets a simpler steering wheel design, polished aluminium door trims instead oak wood like in the E 300.

Underneath the hood is the M264 2.0-litre engine soldiering on with a 9G Tronic 9-speed automatic gearbox. The combo helps deliver 197 hp and 320 Nm to the rear wheels. The E 200 will do 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km/h.
