Kia EV6 GT goes head-to-head with ICE sports cars in a six-car drag race!

Kia Corporation is incredibly proud of its first dedicated fully electric (EV) model, the Kia EV6, with the top-of-the-range GT variant delivering 585 hp and 740 Nm of torque through its dual-motor setup.

To highlight how fast this performance is, Kia has decided to pit their new precious EV with five other sportscars with pure petrol-burning twin-turbocharged and high-revving engines.

The contenders for this drag race are the Lamborghini Urus, Mercedes-AMG GT, McLaren 570S coupe, Porsche 911 Targa 4 and Ferrari California T. Based on a quick data collection, all these cars are capable of launching from standstill to 100 km/h in under four seconds (bar the Porsche), with a larger variation as they reach 200 km/h (between 9.5 to 15 seconds).

The top speed of the Kia EV6 GT is 260 km/h and it is priced from GBP58,295 in the UK.

Curiously, Kia did not include the staple name of performance EVs- Tesla models, in this drag race. Furthermore, the contenders in this comparison are what is termed as ‘legacy’ models, or older cars such as the Porsche 911 Targa 4 (991-generation) that dates to 2016. Apart from the Lamborghini Urus, all sportscars in this race already have successors that are more powerful and faster.
