Updated 2021 Mazda CX-3 now with Apple CarPlay, Smart City Braking, from RM130,729

One of the poster child of compact SUVs is the Mazda CX-3 and Bermaz Motor has just released information on the updated model.

No cosmetic changes in this round of updates, so we can jump straight into the interior where tangible upgrades are added which the driver can appreciate. The seven-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system now comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.

The improved infotainment is also fitted with the new 360-degree View Monitor that provides a birds-eye view of the vehicle’s surrounding at parking speeds. Parking assistance is further improved by the placement of four parking sensor cells on the front bumper.

Occupants also sit on new leatherette-fabric seat upholstery, as opposed to full leather material in the facelift model.

The price increase also sees the return of the tilt-and-slide moonroof (priced at RM2,000), an item that was curiously omitted in the facelift model. In terms of driver assistance systems, the updated Mazda CX-3 receives the Smart City Braking Support (or autonomous emergency braking) that can also function while in reverse.

Other additional features in the i-Activesense suite are the High Beam Control, Lane Departure Warning System and Driver Attention Alert.

Five exterior colours are available, with the addition of the Polymetal Grey that debuted in the all-new Mazda 3 hatchback.

The Mazda CX-3 continues to be offered in only one variant and a single powertrain installation. A 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G petrol engine packing 154 hp and 204 Nm of torque drive the front wheels via a six-speed SkyActiv Drive automatic transmission.

The SkyActiv powertrain works in tandem with the G-Vectoring Control (GVC) that helps reduce body roll and improve ride comfort by altering the engine torque and subtle braking inputs when necessary.

Pricing for the updated Mazda CX-3 2.0 starts from RM130,729 (with 50% sales tax exemption) and the price is inclusive of five-year / 100,000 km free maintenance package and manufacturer warranty coverage plus Mazda’s Skytint window security and tint fitment.

The Mazda CX-3 remains to be fully imported from Japan and customers can only expect their vehicles to be delivered from July 2021.
