Sales Tax Exemption: Hyundai releases revised price list for Malaysia

Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has announced the latest revised price list for its models in Malaysia, following Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement for the exemptions on sales tax on private vehicles as part of the government’s short-term economy recovery plan.

The exemption period, which went into effect on Monday 15th June, will be applicable until the 31st of December 2020, during which the sales tax on locally-assembled models will be dropped to 0%, while imported models will have their sales tax halved to 5%.

Revised Hyundai price list Malaysia (Sales Tax Exemption)

The revised Hyundai price list for Malaysia only includes price reductions on the Santa Fe and i30 N Performance. This is in part due to the government’s directive that only models manufactured in 2020 will be eligible for the sales tax exemption – the Ioniq Hybrid, Tucson, and Elantra were listed without 2020 models.

The Hyundai Santa Fe gets a reduction of approximately 2.9% across the board. As a result, the seven-seater SUV is now priced from RM166,974.01 to RM207,638.46 depending on the variant chosen.

As for the Hyundai i30 N which only comes in the Performance variant locally, the “everyday sportscar” sees a reduction in price of 1.7% (RM5,090.40).
