The Hyundai Elantra facelift is one way to make you stand out on the road

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has just launched the facelifted Hyundai Elantra that packs a fresh exterior design and a refined cabin to give other C-Segment competitors a run for their money.

Offered in a sole 2.0L Executive variant, the refreshed Elantra is competitively priced at RM109,888, on-the-road without insurance.

On the outside, the Elantra gains a new bold design but rest assured, it’s a facelift exercise. Overall length has grown by 70 mm thanks to restyled bumpers, triangular headlamps design with halogen projector units, LED daytime running lights and LED combination tail lamps.

The front grille also spots a new design that is decidedly more commanding compared to the previous version.

Over to the rear, the number plate holder has been repositioned to the lower rear bumper section and the empty space is now occupied by the ELANTRA badge positioned across the tailgate. It now rides on a new set of 17-inch five twin-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 225/45 profile tyres.

Compared to the pre-facelift version, the cabin of the new Elantra is a big step up furnished with new chequered design instrument cluster with 3.5-inch TFT mono LCD, black leather upholstery, newly-designed multifunctional steering wheel, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear air vents as well as rear-view camera with dynamic parking lines.

The centre console features a slightly reworked layout, but our local-spec car does not come with automatic climate control which is available in the premium variants in foreign markets but instead we get a manual system.

Under the hood lies the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder MPI engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission packing 152 hp and 192 Nm to drive the front wheels. There is a Drive mode selector which alters the powertrain between Eco, Normal, Sport and Smart.

Safety wise the facelift Elantra gets six airbags, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-Start Assist Control, Downhill Brake Control and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Hyundai SmartSense Advanced Driver Assistance System is not available here.

There are five exterior shades to choose from – Phantom Black, Fiery Red, Teal Blue, Fluid Metal and Polar White. In addition to that, Stargazing Blue and Sparkling Metal are offered as limited-edition colour choices in conjunction with the model launch.

Every purchase of the Hyundai Elantra facelift comes with a 5-Years or 300,000 km warranty and 24-hour road assist service.
