As a show of gratitude to the frontliners who’ve worked tirelessly in our country’s battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, Proton has introduced the Proton Cares Programme, offering five years of free personal accident (PA) insurance coverage to the frontliners or their immediate families with a purchase of any Proton models.

Underwritten by MCIS Insurance, the free PA insurance offers coverage of up to RM50,000 for five years, in the event of death, accidental death, or permanent disability of the insured individual.

This is yet another initiative by the national carmaker in the fight against the pandemic. Earlier, Proton provided 50 units of the X70 SUV to the Ministry of Health to support the ministry’s logistical requirements. The carmaker also donated 120,000 face shields to hospitals nationwide – all of which are produced in house by voluntary Proton staff.

“Malaysia has made great strides in fighting the battle against COVID-19, thanks to our brave frontliners working tirelessly to safeguard our health,” the post on Proton’s social media read. “Together, let’s adapt to the new normal and continue to play our part to curb the COVID-19 pandemic while making Malaysia a safer country.”

Recently, Proton also announced their revised price list, with reduction from the exemption of sales tax and additional rebates. The updated price list, which will be in effect until the end of the year, sees the entry price for the X70 SUV dropped to RM89,900.
