Sales Tax Exemption: Proton releases updated price list, X70 from RM89,900!

As the Sales Tax Exemption for CKD and CBU cars came into effect today and will go on till the 31st of December 2020, Proton has released an updated price list for its cars; lo and behold, you can now drive home an X70 for less than RM90k!

The X70 Standard 2WD sees a RM4,900 price reduction, now at RM89,900 while the high spec X70 Premium X 2WD gets a whopping “discount” of RM7000; now with a new price tag of RM115,800.

The X70 is powered by a turbocharged 1.8-litre engine making 174 hp and 300 Nm and they’re all paired to a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission – the most notable difference in the locally-assembled model launched in February this year which we drove to Kuantan for a review. The X70 was also featured in our Mega SUV Shootout alongside the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, Peugeot 3008 and the Nissan X-Trail.

Proton also recently introduce the Intelligent Air Purification System (P-IAPS) as standard equipment on the 2020 CKD Proton X70 to complement its existing Air Purifier System.

Find out about the 2020 X70’s new N95 cabin filter here!

The new N95 Cabin Filter is capable of removing 95% of particles larger than 0.3 microns and can also remove 98% of PM2.5 dust particles. As such, it’s an effective “barrier” against smoke particulates, dust, bacteria and other pollutants for both fresh and recirculated air in the cabin.

Those who received their X70 before the announcement can opt to have the new filter fitted for RM79 excluding labour charges. As for that, a quick poke-around revealed that it shouldn’t cost you more than RM100. As of 18th May to the 18th of August 2020, Proton will be offering a 15% discount on the new filter.
