The Toyota Alphard and Vellfire gold special editions are for the flashy businessmen

The Toyota Alphard and Vellfire are sometimes affectionately known as the “taukey car”, a playful jibe at the owner demographic. There’s nothing to be ashamed of – in this price range, the Alphard and Vellfire provides almost unmatched comfort at the rear seats, and in the right configuration (i.e. Executive Lounge), luxury.

For those reasons, the twins have almost become a default purchase for business owners, and weirdly, frequently in white. If perhaps you’re a bit of an eccentric boss and want a bit of pizzazz to go with your class, Toyota has just the right answer for you, in Japan at least – the Alphard S “Type Gold” and Vellfire Z-Golden Eyes.

Based on the S specification, the Alphard S “Type Gold” gains an exclusive gold emblem positioned front and centre of the grille. All chrome accents on the car has also been replaced with a Black smoked-metallic shade, which includes new grille slats, bonnet and bumper trim pieces, fog light housing, and rear door garnishes.

As for the Vellfire Z-Golden Eyes, the Z-specification car gains a gold-trimmed tri-LED headlights, gold-coloured front grille, and gold taillight garnishes. The horizontal slats on the lower front apron is now finished in jet black.

Inside, both cars get a new Ultrasuede perforated upholstery, four-spoke steering wheel and dashboard trims in “Metalwood”, and a blacked-out pillar and roof lining.

Both the Alphard and Vellfire Gold special editions also get a gold-plated key fob, and a smart entry power-sliding door – so the “taukey” will never need to touch the door handles again.
