Toyota has just given the popular Alphard and Vellfire duo a minor update, which includes improved safety and connectivity features.
Styling wise, nothing has changed from the previous facelift of the Taukey duos. Just as before the updated luxury MPVs will be available in three different variants – Vellfire 2.5L, Alphard 3.5L, and the Alphard 3.5 Executive Lounge.
Toyota has included the brand’s latest safety features into the updated Alphard and Vellfire, which includes the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), Parking Brake Support System, Vehicle Telematics System, as well as Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
The TSS system is Toyota’s suite of advanced driver assistance features. The suite includes features such as Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracking Assist, as well as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control – All Speed.
With the new Parking Brake Support System, the Alphard and Vellfire will automatically apply the brakes and cut back the engine output to prevent collision during the parking process, if an object is detected via the sensors on the exterior of the car.
Elsewhere, the Vehicle Telematics Systems (VTS) constantly tracks the vehicle’s location through GPS and GSM connectivity, which should aid vehicle recovery in the event of the vehicle being stolen.
The VTS system can also monitor and record the vehicle speed and other operating conditions, which can be sent to a designated user through email.
Inside, Toyota has updated the dashboard with a new 9-inch touchscreen AVX infotainment display, now with full Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
The new infotainment system also supports constant DVR recording through the front and rear cameras of the Panaromic-View Monitor – no need for a separate dashcam anymore.
The Alphard and Vellfire range will be fully imported from Japan, with prices starting at RM383,000 for the Vellfire 2.5L, and RM465,000 for the Alphard 3.5L. The price for the Alphard 3.5 Executive Lounge has not been confirmed yet at the time of writing.
The updated 2020 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire are now available for pre-launch booking at all authorised Toyota dealerships and UMW Toyota outlets nationwide.
