Lexus has set a new global sales record for 2019

Driven by double-digit growth in China, Europe and Japan, Lexus achieved a new global sales record of 765,330 units over the calendar year of 2019, which is an increase of 10% compared to 2018.

The upturn in sales was attributed to the positive reception of the all-new UX crossover, and the popularity of the redesigned ES sedan and the facelifted RX SUV, as well as the growth in the Chinese luxury segment.

“Based on our ‘Lexus Electrified’ vision, we will expand our line-up of electrified vehicles starting with the launch of our first BEV production model, the UX300e. We will further evolve the Lexus DNA to achieve the ideal balance of ride comfort and quietness with driver confidence and engagement.

The all-electric LF-30 concept previews Lexus’ future line-up.

By applying advanced Lexus technologies such as the integrated control of drive power, learned over many years developing electric motor control technologies in our hybrid vehicles, we will provide an inspiring and enjoyable driving experience unique to Lexus,” said Lexus International President Koji Sato.

In a year where the premium segment contracted in Malaysia, Lexus Malaysia achieved a sales total of 918 units over 2019, which is slightly lower than the 1,011 units achieved in 2018.
