Barely two years after the launch of the fully imported 5008 7-seater SUV in Malaysia, Nasim Sdn Bhd, local distributors of Peugeot vehicles, has introduced the locally-assembled 5008 that’s built in Gurun, Kedah after a recent joint venture between Naza Automotive Manufacturing and Groupe PSA.
Like the new 2019 Peugeot 3008, the new 2019 5008 also gets additional driver aids like Speed Limit Information, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitor and Driver Attention Alert.
The biggest change within the cabin of the 5008, like the 3008, is the new Black Claudio leather upholstery. Specifically for the highest grade 5008 Allure Plus are features like 8-way power adjustable seats with memory function, auto dimming rear view mirror, LED mood lighting and while the 3008 has been added with one-touch folding rear seats, they’re standard in the 5008.
Underneath the hood of the 5008 is the same 1.6-litre twin-scroll Turbo High Pressure Engine with 167 hp and 240 Nm. The engine is similarly paired to a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. 0 to 100 km/h still take 8.9 seconds with top speed rated at 205 km/h.
