Naza Automotive Manufacturing exports the Peugeot 3008 to the Philippines

Remember NAM or Naza Automotive Manufacturing which Groupe PSA took a majority stake last year with the aim of turning it into a regional manufacturing hub? Well, they are now exporting the first shipment of vehicles.

The first batch of vehicles produced at NAM’s Gurun plant comprising the Peugeot 3008 1.6L Active is on its way to the Philippines and will arrive before the end of the month. The handsome 3008 SUV is expected to be joined by the 3-row 5008 1.6 THP, with both models to account for over 4,000 units by 2023 in the Philippines market. Other ASEAN countries will also be receiving Gurun-produced models soon.

The Peugeot 3008 was the European Car of the Year for 2017. In 2018, it was awarded the title of ‘Malaysia Car of the Year’ by the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), now rebranded as Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii).

In February 2018, Naza Corporation Holdings and Groupe PSA signed a share sale and joint venture agreement to officially establish shared operations of the Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM) plant in Gurun, Kedah for Groupe PSA which also distributes the Citroën, DS and Opel brands.
