A90 Toyota Supra coming to Malaysia in September, over RM450k?

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has just announced at the launch of the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Festival Season 3 that the fifth generation (A90) Toyota Supra will be coming to Malaysia as soon as September 2019.

While the company is holding back on specification and pricing details, we know that the Supra is offered with two engine options sourced from its technical partner, BMW. The entry-level Supra gets a B48 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder in two states of tune 197 hp/320 Nm and 258 hp/400 Nm, the latter is identical to the recently launched BMW Z4 sDrive30i.

The most powerful Supra gets its grunt from a B58 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six petrol engine making 340 hp and 500 Nm. There is no manual transmission as of now, instead, all engine options are mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive.

As a fully imported model, customers can expect the same equipment levels offered in other global markets. However, do not expect the Supra to come cheap because, in other markets, the Supra actually costs slightly more (~10%) than the Z4. In Malaysia, the Z4 sDrive30i retails for RM479,800.
