Video: Volvo XC60 T8 Inscription Plus twincharged PHEV review

One of the earliest car launches in 2018 was none other than the second-generation Volvo XC60. GC Mah was given the keys to the Volvo XC60 T8 Inscription Plus PHEV (CBU) and here is what he thinks of the 2018 World Car of the Year.

Initial batches of the XC60 are fully imported from Sweden and is available in the sole T8 Inscription Plus variant priced at an unfavourable RM373,888 after all applicable duties. However, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) will soon be introducing the locally-assembled (CKD) variants of the XC60, three in fact – the T5, T8 Inscription and T8 Inscription Plus.

The T5 is priced at RM298,888, T8 Inscription at RM333,888 and T8 Inscription Plus at RM343,888. Spec for spec, the T8 Inscription Plus CKD is RM30k cheaper and only loses out on the Air Suspension as well as some interior trim options.

Powered by a 2.0-litre Twin Charged (turbocharged and supercharged) four-cylinder petrol engine that is boosted by an electric motor, the XC60 T8 Inscription Plus belts out 407 hp and 640 Nm of torque. The petrol engine drives the front wheels while the electric motor propels the rear axle, effectively making the XC60 T8 all-wheel drive. Century sprint on this 2.1 tonne SUV takes a blistering 5.3 seconds and top speed is capped at 230 km/h.
