At the final leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing festival, UMW Toyota (UMWT) have on display its latest pickup truck, the Toyota Hilux L-Edition. The model on display is the 2.4-litre AT 4×4 (also available for 2.8-litre AT 4×4), packed with a new exterior kit and added equipment levels.
The L Edition gets a new hexagonal grille with chrome outline and larger air intakes on the front lower bumper as well as silver trimmed rear ornament step to give it a more masculine appearance. It rides on 18-inch five-spoke two-tone alloy wheels. The model on display is also equipped with an optional Thule roof rack.
The cabin sports an all-black theme with the upholstery finished in leather. Equipment list on the 2.4-litre reads 6.1-inch touchscreen DVD player with Bluetooth connectivity, six speakers, manual climate control, USB charging port, push start button, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel powered driver’s seat and 360-degree camera.
Motivation comes from the same 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel packing 148 hp and 400 Nm of twisting force. Transmission of choice is a six-speed Super ECT automatic with Sequential Shifter.
Safety kit on the L-Edition is abundant – seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC). However, only the more expensive 2.8-litre gets Downhill Assist Control (DAC) to make driving down a steep slope easier and safer.
Prices for the Toyota Hilux L Edition starts from RM119,300 for the 2.4-litre AT while the 2.8-litre AT retails for RM133,900, both on-the-road without insurance. Like all Toyota models distributed by UMWT, the Hilux L Edition is backed by a 5-Years or 150,000 km manufacturer’s warranty.
