Watch how these three Kia Stingers blast down an empty airfield!

In conjunction with the launch of the Kia Stinger GT in the UK, Kia Motors UK have unleashed three Stinger GT models onto the tarmac of Cornwall Airport Newquay’s runway, demonstrating the prowess of the 3.3-litre twin turbo V6 resting under the hood.

Three pro-drivers launched the Stinger GT simultaneously onto the 2.7 km runway in a “V” formation. Thanks to the 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 upfront with 365 hp and 510 Nm, it only took 4.9 seconds for the rear-wheel drive Grand Tourer to hit 100 km/h. An eight-speed automatic was tasked with the power transfer.

The drivers managed speeds in excess of 241 km/h before coming to a complete halt in the final quarter of the runway. Stopping power from the Brembo brake kit ensured all three drivers came to a halt safely. Given enough runway, the Stinger GT will break the 270 km/h mark.

The Kia Stinger GT was first presented to the world in early January 2017 with the UK being the most recent market launch (October). Naza Kia Malaysia (NKM) has previewed the Stinger GT at the Malaysia Autoshow 2017 in its highest specification – 3.3L V6 and all-wheel drive. It remains unknown whether we will be getting the hottest Kia ever made or the lower output 2.0-litre T-GDI or possibly even the 2.2-litre CRDi considering that NKM is pushing its diesel models. However, rest assured that we will be seeing this fine looking thing on our roads very soon.
