The Kia Sorento was introduced to our local market back in 2016 and was initially offered in three variants – two petrol and one diesel. Due to the high demand for a high spec diesel, Naza Kia Malaysia (NKM) has finally introduced the Kia Sorento 2.2L CRDi HS. Priced at RM191k, the Kia Sorento 2.2L CRDi HS is the most expensive variant of the lot and gets all the bells and whistles checked.

Powering the Sorento CRDi HS is a 2.2-litre CRDi turbodiesel that develops 197 hp and 440 Nm of torque. Transmission of choice is a six-speed slush box, sending drive permanently to all four corners. Drive Mode Select (DMS) allows the driver to put the transmission into three different driving modes – Eco, Normal or Sport. Just like the Sportage diesel, this Sorento is able to cover close to 1,000 km on a single tank of diesel.
From the outside, the only way to tell the Sorento CRDi HS apart from the petrol HS is the tiny Eco Dynamics badge at the rear tailgate. Otherwise, it gets the same kit such as HID projector headlamps with adaptive front lighting system, LED daytime running lamps, front fog lamps, keyless entry, LED combination tail lamps, roof rack, shark fin antenna, powered tailgate and 19-inch chrome alloys wrapped in 235/55 profile tyres.
Inside, the seven seater gets leather upholstery, powered front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, three-spoke leather wrapped multifunctional steering wheel, 7-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster, rear air vents, keyless start and manual rear passenger sun blinds.
As standard, all variants of the Sorento come with six airbags, ABS with BA, Vehicle Stability Management, Electronic Stability Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and hill-start assist. The Sorento is awarded with a full 5 Star Euro NCAP crash safety rating.
Customers can have their Sorento in four colours – Imperial Bronze, Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black and Silky Silver. All purchases come with a 5-Years unlimited mileage warranty package.
