This Infiniti Project Black S will get F1-inspired hybrid powertrain with looks to kill

Nothing sets the heart racing more than seeing a blacked out sports car. In that, the Infiniti Project Black S seems resolute in its will to go up against the BMW M4 CS, Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe and Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.

While built based on the existing Q60 Coupe, Infiniti made Renault Sport F1 their official technical partner for this project. The Project Black S will get F1-inspired hybrid powertrain that should produce well over 500 horsepower, with a dual-hybrid system featuring ‘energy recovery system’ or (ERS) that harvests energy, resulting in significant lag-free accelerations. However, full details are still kept close to their chests. For now.

What we do know is that the twin exhaust pipes are made of lightweight titanium and that it will sit on 21-inch matte-black forged alloy wheels. Carbon fibre will be extensively used for weight reduction and aerodynamic optimisation, one of which can be seen in the front splitter. The hood gets air vents and the enlarged wheel arches all contribute to aero efficiency, while the two-tiered rear spoiler helps keep the car planted.

Infiniti is also toying with the idea of introducing a “Black S” variant to their production cars, a grade which represents the maximum level of performance and dynamism by Infiniti. In the near future, cars christened with the new moniker will get uprated suspension systems, unique design elements and of course, state-of-the-art hybrid powertrain.
