Would you get the BMW M2 Competition with a DCT or manual? From RM626k

BMW Malaysia has just unleashed their latest M car here on at Sepang International Circuit (SIC), the BMW M2 Competition. Sticking to its driver-focused ethos, the M2 Competition can be ordered with a three-pedal, 6-speed manual transmission.

Under the hood, rests the S55 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged in-line six shared with the M3 and M4 but detuned to develop 410 hp and 550 Nm of torque. Drive is transferred to the rear wheels via a 7-speed M dual-clutch transmission, but keen drivers can option the 6-speed manual from BMW Malaysia.

Century sprint takes 4.2 seconds on the DCT while the manual is a tad slower to the 100 km/h mark at 4.4 seconds. The M Driver’s Package was not optioned on the local-spec car hence top is limited to 250 km/h. The M2 Competition also benefits from the new carbon fibre high-precision strut and bulkhead strut, recalibrated electric power steering and Dynamic Stability Control.

Our local-spec M2 Competition is dressed in the 19-inch style 437 M light alloy wheels wrapped in 245/35 front and 265/35 rear profile tyres, BMW individual high-gloss Shadow Line, M exhaust system with quad exits, M rear spoiler and M specific side mirror caps.

Differentiating the M2 Competition from a regular M2 are the larger kidney grilles, restyle air intakes and a larger rear diffuser. All these works together to give the baby M car better aerodynamics and cooling.

Inside, you’ll find the M gear selector, carbon fibre interior trims, red start/stop button, M leather steering wheel, M seat belts and M designation on the door sills. Other than that, standard kit includes 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reverse camera, 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, powered front seats with memory function and keyless entry and start.

The new BMW M2 Competition is available in five exterior shades Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, Long Beach Blue Metallic, Hockenheim Silver Metallic and Sunset Orange Metallic which is paired with orange contrast stitching while the rest gets blue stitching instead.

Every purchase comes with a 5-Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty with Free Scheduled Maintenance, 2-Years Tyre Warranty, BMW Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline, BMW Group Loyalty+ Mobile App (BMW White Card) and BMW Service Online.
