Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has just unveiled a special edition Outlander plug-in hybrid (PHEV) called the Outlander PHEV Juro for the same price as the specification it is based on. This move gives the buyers even more reasons to purchase UK’s best-selling PHEV.
For the same price of £32,749 (around RM169k), buyers will benefit from the added value of a touchscreen infotainment with TomTom satellite navigation with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and DAB radio as well as an Outlander bonnet emblem that separates this limited edition model from the rest.
Elsewhere, the Juro’s equipment and features dittos the high spec GX3h+ variant that it is based on. Therefore, the Juro comes equipped as standard with LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloys, dual-zone climate control, multifunctional leather steering wheel, Hi-tech fabric seats, privacy glass and among others.
No changes to the mechanics of the Outlander therefore the same petrol and electric motor hybrid powertrain is carried over. The Outlander PHEV is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder MIVEC petrol engine that produces 119 hp and 190 Nm of torque coupled with two electric motors fitted onto each axle that generates 80 hp and 137 Nm at the front and 80 hp and 195 Nm at the rear. Power is delivered via a single-speed automatic transmission that drives all four-wheels. With a combined output of 200 hp and over 500 Nm of torque, the PHEV powertrain definitely has the performance to boot.
In addition to that, the Outlander PHEV boasts a full-electric range of 52km and a combined fuel consumption of 1.8 litres per 100km. Perfect for daily commuting and even for those who travel far and wide. As such, Mitsubishi Motors UK has sold more than 25,000 Outlander PHEV since 2014 making it the best-selling plug-in vehicle in the UK.
Closer to home, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated Outlander on offer for Rm167k. Imagine if MMM decides to locally assemble the Outlander PHEV, we may very well achieve similar results as Great Britain.
