The 8th Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2013 is launched and officiated this morning by YB Dato’ Hasan Bin Malek, Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives & Consumerism a day before the event is opened to the public on the November 15th. This year KLIMS is rather interesting as it is jam packed with concepts, previews and launches.

Citroën completed its DS line-up with the arrival of the spunky looking Citroën DS3. The interior has this piano black finishing which makes it look luxurious and sporty at the same time. It is however is just a preview and is said to be launched in the first quarter of 2014.
The much anticipated Ford Fiesta EcoBoost is unveiled at KLIMS 2013. The 1.0l EcoBoost engine is able to generate the amount of power a 1.6l engine generates, it but consumes 21% less fuel. Priced at RM96k to RM99k, this model will only be available some time mid next year.
Ford also unveiled the all-new Ford EcoSport, a urban SUV that is powered by a 1.5l Ti-VCT petrol engine. Price starts from RM98k to RM108k.
Ford brought along its muscle car warrior, the most powerful Mustang ever, Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. It pounces from 0 to 100 in 3.5seconds, with a top speed of 322kph.
The highly anticipated MPV from Honda, now the 5th generation Honda Odyssey has been launched in Malaysia, only 2 weeks after it’s debut in Japan. Comes in 2 variants, the standard model EX and the luxury model EXV, both running on 2.4l engine. Priced at RM228k and RM248k respectively. It has a ‘ultra low floor platform’. Yes, and you’ll be amazed how low this MPV is.
This is Honda’s first plug in hybrid model, and also it’s first two motor hybrid system, the Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid. Powered by the newly developed 2.0l i-Vtec Earth Dreams Technology engine. This is the hybrid that you can charge using your house electrical socket. No news on its arrival at the moment though.

Hyundai launched the i40 Sedan and Tourer at KLIMS 2013. Both i40 are powered by the same 2.0 GDI engine. Hyundai i40 Sedan is priced at RM160k while the estate version is priced at RM179k.
Infiniti flew in the new Q50 to show us Malaysians what we will be getting next year. This Infiniti Q50 is a All-Wheel Drive premium sports sedan, powered by a 3.7l V6 engine with 7-speed automatic gear box. It is also the first new model to carry the Q prefix as Infiniti is renaming its sedans with ‘Q’ prefix and its crossover and SUV with ‘QX’.
The first car you would notice once u get into the main hall, the Lexus LFA #493/500.

Edaran Tan Chong Motor has finally brought Nissan’s 100% electric vehicle to Malaysia, the Nissan LEAF. This best selling EV with 87,000 units sold globally is priced at RM168,800 here in Malaysia.

This may be the car many Malaysians are waiting for, the 2.5l fully hybrid Toyota Camry Hybrid which is just a teaser here today. UMW will market this car as a CKD to compete in the hybrid market.
German auto giant Volkswagen introduces its locally assembled Polo 1.6 to KLIMS 2013. The new Polo 1.6 is the third VW model that’s assembled in its Pekan, Pahang plant and will only be launched next year.
This is something VW brought to KLIMS to show off and it comes along with a guitarist. It’s the special edition Volkswagen Beetle Fender Edition, which is not selling in Malaysia. Do stick around this Beetle to watch the guitarist perform. He’s really good! (and some say cute)
