Chery Malaysia announced that the all-new Chery Tiggo 9 is now open for registration of interest locally, with interested customers able to do so by visiting the Chery Malaysia website, linked here.
Set to be the brand’s flagship SUV, the Chery Tiggo 9 shares its underpinnings with the Jaecoo J8 and the Omoda C9, and is offered with an interior that is configured as a seven-seater, in a 2+3+2 configuration, in its home market in China.
Local specifications are not fully revealed, but Chery Malaysia states the Tiggo 9 will feature a powertrain consisting of a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and an all-wheel drive setup. In the Middle Kingdom, this petrol powertrain configuration produces 254 hp and 390 Nm, and is paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
In China, the Tiggo 9 is also available with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant that utilises a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid engine and two traction motors to produce a combined output of 381 hp and 610 Nm. This setup can be paired to either an 18.67 kWh or a 34.46 kWh battery, enabling a pure EV range of 80 km and 160 km (WLTC), respectively.
Regardless of battery size, the Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV achieves a combined range of over 1,400 km (WLTC). Recharging from 30-80% takes 25 minutes, with the 18.67 kWh battery supporting DC charging at 41 kW, while the larger 34.46 kWh pack supports faster charging rates at 71 kW.

Other touted specs for the Chery Tiggo 9 in Malaysia include seven drive modes, 20-inch alloy wheels, a 15.6-inch display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset, a heads-up display, a fully adjustable driver’s seat, and massaging and ventilated seats for both the front and second rows. The flagship SUV will also feature a 14-speaker Sony sound system, complete with headrest speakers and a suite of 23 ADAS features.
The Chery Tiggo 9 will join the ranks of four new models planned for launch in Malaysia this year, serving as the second launch following the market debut of the base model Chery Tiggo 8. Officially teased as a model that will “redefine flagship luxury,” the Tiggo 9 leads a 2026 product offensive that is also expected to include an SUV focused on performance and versatility, a “youthful evolution” model, and a plug-in hybrid Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) model to round out the year.
