Chery Malaysia has launched the new 2026 Chery Tiggo 8 in Malaysia, which now serves as the entry-level model to the Tiggo 8 lineup locally, joining the Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 8 PHEV. The new Chery Tiggo 8 is priced at RM129,800, on-the-road, without insurance, making it RM30,000 cheaper than the Tiggo 8 Pro, which retails for RM159,800.
While the front fascia of the Tiggo 8 is identical to that of the Tiggo 8 Pro, the SUV’s rear design serves as the primary differentiator. Styled similarly to the pre-facelift Tiggo 8 Plus in China, the new Tiggo 8 omits the full-width taillight setup found on the Pro model, opting instead for a different taillight design and a “CHERY” wordmark positioned higher on the tailgate.
Additionally, the previous quad-exhaust setup has been replaced by dual-exhaust outlets, and the SUV sits on smaller 18-inch alloy wheels rather than the 19-inch items found on the Tiggo 8 Pro.

The interior of the Tiggo 8 is configured as a seven-seater in a 2+3+2 layout. Upfront, the dashboard design differs significantly from the Tiggo 8 Pro. The base model features a segregated layout consisting of a 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, rather than the integrated dual-screen setup found in the Tiggo 8 Pro.
Additionally, the centre console houses a separate display for climate settings, a setup first seen on the pre-facelift Tiggo 8 PHEV that never actually made it to our Malaysian market, replacing the touch-capacitive controls used in the Tiggo 8 Pro.

Under the bonnet, the Tiggo 8 features a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 197 hp and 290 Nm, which is identical to the outputs of the Tiggo 7 Pro. Power is delivered to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). For comparison, these figures are 59 hp and 100 Nm lower than the 256 hp and 390 Nm produced by the 2.0-litre turbocharged mill found in the Tiggo 8 Pro.
For safety equipment, the Tiggo 8 comes equipped with six airbags and a suite of ADAS features, which include:

- Front collision warning (FCW)
- Rear collision warning (RCW)
- Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
- Autonomous emergency braking (AEB)

The Chery Tiggo 8 is offered in two exterior colours: Dark Black and Khaki White. In conjunction with the launch, Chery Malaysia is providing a launch package that includes a seven-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, a 10-year or 1,000,000 km engine warranty, five years of all-inclusive free service, and a one-year Chery Insurance Programme. Priced at RM129,800, the Tiggo 8 will be available at Chery showrooms nationwide from 24 January 2026.
