Just three months after its Malaysian debut, the all-new Proton Saga MC3 has now made its first international appearance with its launch in Brunei. The launch marked the first export market for the all-new Proton Saga, which is also the second Proton model introduced in Brunei in 2026, following the launch of the Proton X50 on 15 January.
Speaking on the launch, Proton International Corporation (PICSB) Chief Executive Officer, Edmund Lim Meng Thong, said, “The launch of the All-New Proton Saga in Brunei is a definitive statement of Proton’s intent to grow its export volume by increasing its presence in the entry-level segment in regional markets.”
“By leveraging on our own proprietary technology such as the AMA platform, we aim to secure a larger share of the ASEAN market while solidifying our export-led growth strategy to align with our long-term goals,” he added.
The Proton Saga will be a key lever in boosting the company’s export goals, where it targets for overseas sales to account for 30% of the company’s total sales by 2030, with plans to expand its presence to at least 32 countries.

The compact sedan has also enjoyed strong demand back home in Malaysia thus far, where more than 20,000 units have been registered since its launch last year. Proton says that the all-new Proton Saga continues to serve as one of the national carmaker’s key volume drivers in its home market.
In Brunei, the all-new Proton Saga MC3 will be sold in two variants, namely the Executive and Premium, priced at BND16,800 (approx. RM52k) to BND18,800 (approx RM58k) respectively.

The all-new Proton Saga is built on Proton’s new Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA). Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 120 hp and 150 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission as standard, while the range-topping Premium variant gets a CVT gearbox for smoother power delivery.
For comparison, the compact sedan is available in three variants in Malaysia: the 1.5 Standard priced at RM38,990, the 1.5 Executive at RM44,990, and the range-topping 1.5 Premium at RM49,990. All prices are on-the-road, excluding insurance. Included in the price is a five-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, along with three free labour services for scheduled maintenance.
