Following its major update last year, Proton International Corporation Sdn Bhd (PICSB) has now begun exporting the all-new Proton X50 to Brunei, marking the first export market for the updated B-segment SUV.
According to Proton, Brunei remains one of the marque’s most established export markets, with the Proton X50 touted as the brand’s strongest selling model in the country.
Last year, PICSB exported a total of 6,000 vehicles overseas, with the Proton X50 playing a major role, accounting for 29% of total export sales. In Brunei, the story is much the same, with the X50 contributing 38% of Proton’s total sales there, firmly establishing it as the brand’s top-selling model in the country.
For the Brunei market, the all-new Proton X50 is offered in three variants: the Executive at BND27,499 (approx. RM87k), the Premium at BND31,500 (approx. RM99k), and the Flagship at BND34,500 (approx. RM109k).

The variants and specifications mirror that of the Proton X50 in Malaysia, albeit with a lower price compared to the RM89,800-RM113,300 range here, on-the-road, and without insurance. In Brunei, customers are also offered a five-year/150,000 km warranty and six years of free labour service. The first 100 customers will also receive an additional BND1,500 (approx. RM4.7k) discount, bringing prices down further.
The unveiling of the upgraded compact SUV underscores Proton’s commitment to delivering globally competitive products tailored for overseas markets, while strengthening its position in key right-hand-drive export destinations, the company says in a press release.

The launch was graced by the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Dato’ Mohd Aini Antan, and attended by PICSB Vice President, Wan Wei, PAD Motors Sdn Bhd Chairman, Tan Kah Boon, and PAD Motors Managing Partner, Hambali bin Pehin Salleh.
PICSB Vice President, Wan Wei, said, “Brunei is the first overseas market to introduce the All-New Proton X50, and this reflects the confidence Proton has in Brunei as an export market as well as the trust in our long-standing partnership with PAD Motors. It also highlights the important role Brunei continues to play in Proton’s international journey.”
“With models like the Proton X50, the company is well-positioned to achieve its 2026 export targets and accelerate towards our long-term ambition of reaching 330,000 units by 2030, with 30% contributed by export markets,” he added.
