UMW Toyota has quietly released the estimated pricing for the upcoming hybrid variant of the Toyota Vios on its website. Two variants will be available at launch: 1.5 HEV and the 1.5 HEV GR-S, with pricing expected to start from RM103,900 and RM109,900, respectively, and these figures are on-the-road, excluding insurance.
The launch will mark the long-awaited return of the GR Sport variant to the Vios line-up. When the current-generation (AC100) Toyota Vios made its Malaysian debut in 2023, the GR Sport variant was notably absent, leaving a gap for those wanting the sportier variant offered by the previous XP150-generation Vios.
UMW Toyota Motor has not yet released the full details for its new electrified B-segment sedan, though the website claims that it’ll return a fuel consumption figure of 3.6 L/100 km (NEDC).
While we await the final Malaysian specifications, the Vios Hybrid in neighbouring Thailand provides a clear indication of what to expect. There, the Toyota Vios Hybrid is powered by an Atkinson-cycle 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 91 hp and 121 Nm, paired with an electric motor for a combined output of 111 hp. The electric motor is juiced by a small 0.7 kWh battery.
This is a series-parallel hybrid powertrain, meaning both the electric motor and the engine can drive the front wheels individually or concurrently via an e-CVT gearbox.

Other confirmed local specifications show the Toyota Vios Hybrid will be equipped with a new 10.1-inch centre infotainment display featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, an upgraded cabin ambient lighting, a hybrid-exclusive front grille, and a dedicated EV mode button on the cluster beside the steering wheel.
Five exterior colours will be offered for the Toyota Vios Hybrid in Malaysia: Platinum White Pearl, Spicy Scarlet SE, Attitude Black, Silver Metallic, and a hybrid-exclusive Celestite Grey Metallic.
For those opting for the range-topping GR Sport, dual-tone options for Platinum White Pearl and Spicy Scarlet SE are available for an additional RM1,500. With the estimated pricing released, the official debut of the Toyota Vios Hybrid is expected to follow shortly, so stay tuned!
