Land Rover Defender updated for 2025 – revised exterior and larger infotainment screen


Jaguar Land Rover has given the Land Rover Defender a minor update for 2025, consisting of a mild exterior refresh and a revised interior equipment list across the Defender 90, 110, 130, and Defender Octa variants.

These updates are subtle, to say the least. Among the changes are a pair of new headlights, which the carmaker describes in its press materials as a “crisp new headlight design with signature graphic when lit”. We’re not sure if the marketing department was working overtime to come up with that, but the only change here that we can see is that the two corner blocks on each end are now filled out, rather than just an outline as before.

Additionally, the Defender’s signature taillights are now dark-tinted, accompanied by revised front and rear bumpers. The hood gains a new textured pattern for its inserts and side vents, and the gloss black front grille is now offered as a standard feature, along with a dark oval “Land Rover” badge.

For the alloy wheels, a new 22-inch seven-spoke Diamond Turned Dark Grey option is available, featuring gloss Black Defender-branded wheel centre caps. New exterior colours, Borasco Grey and Woolstone Green, have also been introduced.

Inside, you will be greeted by a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display, replacing the previous 11.4-inch unit. According to Land Rover, they have repositioned the gear lever for improved ergonomics. Also new for the interior is a redesigned centre console that now includes a sliding section, allowing you to hide small items in a closed cubby.

Furthermore, the luxury “Signature Suite” option now comes with removable side pockets and cable routing, making it seem like Land Rover understands the hassle of messy wires.

In terms of tech upgrades, the Land Rover Defender can now be optioned with Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control, which as the name suggests, is an adaptive cruise control system, but specifically for off-road use. According to the company, this new feature is an evolution of All Terrain Progress Control, allowing the driver to set a desired comfort level when negotiating rough terrain, so they can concentrate on steering the vehicle.

Other new interior features include a new driver attention monitor, which utilises a driver-facing camera mounted on the steering column.

For the top Land Rover Defender Octa, the British carmaker has introduced new colour selections, including Borasco Grey and Sargasso Blue. Also new is the Patagonia White Matte Wrap protective film, which Land Rover says is also planned for the Defender V8 variants.

Additionally, the exterior of the Defender Octa can now be optioned with a new Textured Graphite finish or Chopped Carbon Fibre exterior and interior accents. As for functional items, the Defender Octa can also be optioned with a specially-integrated 4,500 kg-rated winch with a chopped carbon fibre cover.

Other new optional available across the Land Rover Defender line up for 2025 include black variations of the Expedition Roof Rack, Cross Bars, and a front undershield. Additionally, the rear scuff plate is now also offered in a dark finish, in addition to the existing bright finish.

The Defender 130 is now also available with an integrated air compressor option which off-road junkies migh appreciate. In addition, matte black bonnet decals have been updated with a new Defender script across the Defender 90, 110 and 130 body designs.
