Honda Malaysia has launched their first battery electric vehicle (BEV) – the all new Honda e:N1. CBU from China, it’s got a starting price of RM149,900 on-the-road without insurance.
Although very similar looking to the HR-V, the Honda e:N1 is built on Honda’s new e:N Architecture F that is said to offer a new experience for EVs.
The e:N1 measures at 4,380mm in length, with a width of 1,790mm, and 1,592mm in height – essentially identical to the standard HR-V but with a lower ground clearance standing at 142mm tall. For context, the HR-V e:HEV RS measures at 4,385mm in length, 1,790mm in width, 1,590mm in height, and a higher ground clearance of 196mm.
To spot the e:N1, key giveaways include the closed off front grille with a front charge lid, a rear light bar connecting the tail lights, and a new typeface with a spread-letter “Honda” emblem displayed across the tailgate. Other standard exterior features of the e:N1 include:
- 18-inch dual tone alloy wheels
- “Heart Beat” Charging Indicators positioned above the front grille
- LED head lights and full width LED tail lights
Insulation for the car has also been improved with the more insulation on the wheel arches and the car coming with resonator wheels in a larger diameter compared to a standard HR-V.
Along with the e:N1 is the introduction of a new BEV identity with a white Honda badge symbolising electrification for the brand. This new Honda badge will be featured throughout the car such as the car keys, steering wheel badge, centre wheel caps, digital cluster, and front badge.
You get a selection of three different exterior colours which includes:
- Aqua Topaz Metallic
- Urban Grey Pearl
- Platinum White Pearl
Exclusive to the Aqua Topaz Metallic colour option to spec the car with a dual-tone Gray interior colour. Otherwise, standard for other colours are a black interior colour.

Moving inside, you are immediately greeted with a 15.1-inch central infotainment display mounted vertically on the dashboard. It features a three-layer layout with each layer displaying different contents such as:

- Second Layer
- Vehicle settings
- Power flow
- Audio
- EV Menu
- Third Layer
- Air conditioning
New to this car is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster along with dedicated gear buttons on the centre console in place of a conventional shift knob. At night, these dedicated buttons will feature illuminated surrounds for ease of use during poorly lit situations.

The Honda e:N1 is built on the e:N Architecture F – the suffix standing for front-wheel-drive. It features a battery developed in collaboration with CATL and is internally very different from a standard HR-V.

- Battery: 68.8 kWh ternary lithium-ion (NMC) battery
- Range: 500 km (NEDC)
Charging wise, the Honda e:N1 supports 10 kW AC charging as well as up to 78 kW DC charging. Juicing up the car fully with AC charging will take approximately six hours and DC charging up to 78 kW will take from 30% to 80% in just 50 minutes. You also get three levels of regenerative braking that can be manually adjusted via the shift pedals mounted behind the steering wheel.

The Honda e:N1 will be receiving the full Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). Exclusive to this car is the introduction of a Blind Spot Information (BSI) system and the Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) system. Standard safety features of the Honda e:N1 are as such:
