Leapmotor announced that the company achieved 1.5 million cumulative vehicle deliveries worldwide, a milestone reached just eight months after surpassing the one million mark.
The carmaker started delivering its first car in China back in June 2019, reaching 500,000 units in October 2024 and crossing the one million threshold in October 2025. This rapid growth was driven by Leapmotor’s global expansion through the Leapmotor International joint venture.
Closer to home, the carmaker recently began CKD local assembly works for its electric vehicles (EV) at the Stellantis plant in Gurun, Kedah. Operations are kicking off with the Leapmotor C10, with plans to expand to the smaller and newer B10 model by the end of the year. This manufacturing move is preceded by an initial investment of EUR5.33 million (approx. RM25 million).
From this pool, EUR3.1 million (approx. RM14.5 million) is earmarked for production line and infrastructure upgrades at the facility, while the remaining EUR2.23 million (approx. RM10.4 million) goes toward localised assembly development.
Furthermore, Leapmotor has appointed Cycle & Carriage as its distribution operations partner in Malaysia. This appointment will see the retail group expand Leapmotor’s network footprint to strategic locations in George Town, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, and Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru, alongside the opening of a flagship 3S centre in Glenmarie.
