iCaur 03 and iCaur V23 to debut at Malaysia Autoshow 2025

Following an earlier teaser, iCaur has now confirmed the imminent debut of two models, the iCaur 03 and the iCaur V23, in Malaysia. The company’s Facebook post revealed that the models will be previewed at Malaysia Autoshow 2025 next week, taking place from 9 to 15 May 2025.

Previously known as iCar, the Chery sub-brand has since undergone a rebranding exercise for certain export markets. The company intends to launch three models in Malaysia, including both fully electric (EV) and range-extender electric vehicle (REEV) models.

Amongst the models set to be displayed at Malaysia Autoshow 2025 is the Icaur V23, with a boxy exterior design that might remind you of some other popular off-roaders, like the Toyota Land Cruiser 40 Series. The iCaur V23 is available with EV or REEV powertrains in its home country of China.

In EV guise, the iCaur V23 offers a choice of rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The RWD variant is powered by an electric motor producing 136 hp (100 kW) and 180 Nm. This is paired to a 59.93 kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery pack, enabling a range of 401 km according to the optimistic CLTC cycle.

The RWD iCaur V23 can also be equipped with a larger 81.76 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery (NMC) that increases the range to 550 km (CLTC).

AWD variants meanwhile gains an additional front-mounted electric motor delivering 75 hp (55kW), resulting in a combined output of 211 hp and 292 Nm, paired with an 81.76 kWh NMC battery pack that enables a range of 501 km (CLTC).

iCaur did not disclose any charging specifications for the V23, but states that all variants can be recharged from 30% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.

Previously displayed in last year’s motor show as the Jaecoo J6, the iCaur 03 meanwhile is offered as an EV in either RWD or AWD guises. The RWD variant features an electric motor producing 181 hp and 220 Nm, and is equipped with a 65.69 kWh LFP battery pack that enables a range of 371 km (WLTP).

Opting for the AWD variant adds an electric motor to the front axle, boosting the total system output to 275 hp and 385 Nm, and is paired with a larger 69.77 kWh battery. Despite the larger battery, the AWD iCaur 03 has a slightly shorter range of 364 km (WLTP) due to its higher power output.

Both variants support AC charging at 6.6 kW and DC charging at 80 kW, and also feature vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability at 3.3 kW.

We’ll learn more about the two cars and the iCaur sub-brand at Malaysia Autoshow 2025 happening next week, so stay tuned for our coverage for more info!
