If you’ve missed our previous report, Chery sub-brand iCar will be launched in Malaysia this year. They’re expected to launch three models in Malaysia including fully-electric (EV) and range-extender vehicles (REEV). We hope that includes this iCar V23!
In China, iCar is known to offer almost limitless customisation. As you can see from the images we took at the auto show, they can cater to different tastes, preferences and lifestyles. Owners can customise wheels, front grilles and opt for other add-ons to suit their liking.

The first model to arrive under the iCar brand should be the Jaecoo J6 or iCar 03 as it is known in China. The EV off-roader is available in rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.
The more powerful all-wheel drive variant makes 275 hp and 385 Nm, with a 69.7 kWh battery. Range is up to 371 km, in the single-motor model with a smaller 65 kWh battery.

What you’re looking at here is the iCar V23; another iCar model that should be coming to Malaysia. Certain sections of the SUV may remind you of cars you’ve seen before, but it doesn’t make it any less charismatic. It’s available either as an EV or range-extender vehicle. Just like the iCar 03, you can have it as a rear-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle.
The more powerful all-wheel drive makes 211 hp and 292 Nm while the single-motor, rear-wheel drive model has a decent 136 hp and 180 Nm.

Compared to the iCar 03, the iCar V23’s interior design is far more elaborate and more importantly, trendy. It gets a round instrument cluster, just like a MINI, with chunkier buttons and knobs. It’s bound to get your attention but it remains to be seen how well received an EV off-roader would be in Malaysia. Would you get one?
