The Aston Martin DBX range has just been given a new flagship. It’s called the Aston Martin DBX S, and it’s the British marque’s latest “Supercar of SUVs,” boasting a list of enhancements befitting its coveted “S” badge – the mark of a special, high-performance variant within the Aston Martin line up.
Beneath the sculpted hood lies a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, now unleashing 727 hp and 900 Nm of torque. This marks a 20 hp increase over the already powerful DBX 707, thanks to the adoption of turbochargers derived from the Aston Martin Valhalla supercar.
This powerhouse is mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch, channelling power to all four wheels. The result is a blistering 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.3 seconds, and onwards to a top speed of 310 km/h.
According to Aston Martin, the gearbox has been tweaked to deliver a more engaging driving experience, with downshifts in Sport and Sport+ modes being more aggressive during automatic operation.

The Aston Martin DBX S also inherits the suspension refinements introduced in the DBX 707, featuring revised air springs and electronic dampers that enhance both ride quality and stability when tackling corners.
To keep all that 727 hp firmly in check, Aston Martin has equipped the DBX S with high-performance carbon ceramic brakes on both the front and rear axles.
Staying true to the ethos of high-performance variants, the DBX S has shed a noticeable 47 kg. This weight reduction is achieved through the optional 23-inch magnesium wheels, saving 19 kg, and an optional carbon fibre roof that shaves off another 18 kg – the largest carbon fibre roof ever fitted to an Aston Martin, according to the company.
A lightweight polycarbonate honeycomb grille, featuring over 25,000 individual facets, further contributes to a rearward shift in weight distribution, ultimately improving the SUV’s handling and traction.
As an “S” model, the DBX S sports a distinctive exterior, including a menacing pure black vaned grille, new front splitters and diffusers. To ensure everyone knows that they’re looking at the top-of-the-range DBX S, it’s also marked by the distinctive “S” badging on the front fenders.
Towards the rear, there are vertically stacked quad-exhaust pipes to unleash the V8’s roar, complemented by a redesigned rear bumper which can be specified with carbon fibre to save an additional 7 kg of weight.
Despite its performance-oriented look, expect a luxurious interior, as is always the case with an Aston Martin. The interior, according to Aston Martin, displays a bespoke “S” theme and is upholstered in Alcantara. The seats feature a herringbone design as standard, complete with an embroidered “S” and the signature Aston Martin wings decorating the headrests.
Other interior features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a driver’s 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 14-speaker sound system, which can be upgraded to a 23-speaker and 1,600W setup.
Ready to unleash your inner supercar driver in an SUV? The Aston Martin DBX S starts at £210,000 (approx. RM1.2 million) in the UK. But be warned: the extensive options list is a black hole for your bank account.
