GWM Tank 300 facelift in China shows off new interior, up to 860km per tank

We are at the Great Wall Motor booth at the Shanghai Auto 2025 and on display is the facelift Tank 300. Changes to the exterior are minimal, with a slightly redesigned front bumper. Most of the changes on the facelift Tank 300 are on the inside with the most significant difference seen on the dashboard and centre console.

There is a much larger 14.6 infotainment touchscreen with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip while the new horizontal air con vents replaces the Mercedes-Benz-styled units in the pre-facelift. A series of switches now rest above the flatter air con vents.

The chunky gear lever and knobs in the pre-facelift have also been relocated. The gear lever is now mounted to the steering column like a Mercedes-Benz. The ‘new look’ centre console is now occupied by two 50-watt wireless chargers and drive control switches for a minimalist look.

There is also a recently added diesel powertrain for the facelift Tank 300 – a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine producing 184 hp and 480 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels either rear or all four, via a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The Tank 300 Hi4-T combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with an electric motor and 37 kWh battery. The battery offers a pure electric range up to 105 km (CLTC). In total, it produces 408 hp and 750 Nm. It also uses a 9-speed automatic gearbox with four-wheel drive capabilities. Total range is 860 km.

In Malaysia, the Tank 300 is also powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 220 hp and 380 Nm but with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

It’s said that the facelift Tank 300 Hi4-T costs around 249,800 yuan (approx. RM150k) and 234,800 yuan for the turbodiesel (approx. RM141k) so you do the math.

Currently the Tank 300 is priced at RM250,000 in Malaysia so you can guess the prices of the hybrid and diesel variants. That said, with fuel prices set to soar in the coming months, the newer, long range Tank 300 models will undoubtedly be a much welcomed addition in Malaysia.
