Following the launch of the MINI Aceman earlier this week, MINI Malaysia has also previewed the MINI Cooper S 5-door here on our shores. This new model offers increased practicality and versatility with two additional doors. Estimated pricing is RM303,400 pending vehicle type approval from the government, and is inclusive of the extended warranty and scheduled service programme.
The MINI Cooper S 5-door has a more spacious interior thanks to its increased dimensions. Lengthwise, it’s 160mm longer than the three-door version. This extra length is contributed partly by a 72-mm longer wheelbase. Of course, dimensions are also different to the MINI Cooper SE, as the fully electric model is based on a completely new chassis not shared with the petrol-powered versions.
Powering the MINI Cooper S 5-door is the same 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine that pushes out 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque. It’s paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) driving the front wheels. The car will sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, continuing on to a top speed of 242 km/h.
The MINI Cooper S 5-door retains the iconic styling of its three-door sibling, featuring the same bold front grille, rounded headlights, and the iconic three-tier design separating the roof from the greenhouse and body panels. The two additional rear passenger doors seamlessly integrate into the design, maintaining the car’s sporty profile. As it should with a MINI, individuality is the order of the day, so the tail is flanked by a pair of triangular LED taillights with three selectable light signatures.

Standard equipment on the MINI Cooper S 5-Door in Malaysia include the 18-inch “Slide Spoke” two-tone alloy wheels, LED headlamps with high beam assist and selectable daytime running lights signature, and contrasting roof and wing mirror cover finishes. In addition to the classic MINI colours of Chili Red and Nanuq White, MINI Malaysia is also introduced two new colours exclusively for the Cooper S 5-door, namely Icy Sunshine Blue and Legend Grey.
Like its three-door sibling, the interior features a large circular centre screen. This signature MINI element houses the infotainment system, while a row of physical buttons provides convenient access to essential functions such as media volume, gear selection and ignition.
Material wise, the dashboard and door trims are finished in two-tone knitted fabric made from recycled polyester for an eco-conscious feel. The seats are upholstered in Vescin, a high-quality vegan leather for a comfortable and guilt-free seating experience. A Harman Kardon sound system comes as standard inside, alongside the MINI Experience driving modes and Comfort Access.
Safety-wise, the MINI Cooper S 5-Door offers MINI Driving Assistant which includes Active Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and other safety features.
Pricing wise, the estimated RM303,400 is on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of the RM10,400 Extended Warranty and Service Package, that includes a four-year unlimited-mileage warranty, alongside a four-year free service programme.
Opt for just the car itself, and the price drops to an estimated RM293,000 – but you’ll only be getting a standard two-year factory warranty.
