Toyota Century SUV teased ahead of September 6 premiere – New addition to the “ultimate chauffeur experience”

Toyota has announced that it will be unveiling a new model on September 6, which is next Wednesday. Along with the announcement is a teaser image of a high-riding car with a tailgate, and a chauffeur’s hand in gloves ready to open the rear door. This most probably suggests that the said car is the upcoming Toyota Century SUV.

This actually isn’t the first time Toyota has teased its upcoming limousine SUV. A side shot of a Century on stilts was first shown during the global launch of the all-new AH40 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire.

The Toyota Century has also been said to be featuring the seven-seater Lexus TX 550h+’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. This setup will feature a 3.5-litre V6 engine along with an electric motor, resulting in a combined output of 406 hp and an unspecified amount of torque.

For context, the current third-generation Toyota Century is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 hybrid setup. Its second-generation predecessor even came with a whopping V12 engine, making it the only production Toyota model to have ever come with a 12-cylinder mill.

The upcoming Toyota Century SUV will also highly feature the sedan’s iconic retro design, which gives out a classy look. This easily explains why the Toyota Century series has been a default choice of car for Japanese Prime Ministers and senior government leaders.

Third-generation Toyota Century

The unveiling event of the Toyoya Century SUV will be live-streamed on Toyota Motor Corporation’s official YouTube channel. As mentioned above, the event will be taking place on September 6 from 1:30 PM to 1:45 PM, Japan time (12:30 PM to 12:45 PM, Malaysia time).

Will this Century SUV replace the Century sedan, or will it just be a new addition to the series? We don’t know just yet, but we sure hope it will be the latter.
