After the pricing of the Taycan was announced, starting from as low as RM725k, it makes you wonder if the Panamera range, where prices start from RM860k, would still have a place in Malaysia.
Last week, Sime Darby Auto Performance launched the new, all-electric Porsche Taycan in Malaysia, which will be available in three variants – starting from the Taycan 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S – priced at RM725k, RM 999k, and RM1.195 million respectively.
While you may have reservations on Porsche calling the most powerful Taycan a “Turbo S”, make no mistake of its perfectly capable of. With the Overboost function, the all-wheel drive electric car with a 2-speed transmission just pips the V12 Ferrari Superfast from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds.
Then you have the Turbo that serves up 680 hp, but with more electric driving range than the Turbo S with up to 450 km. Top speed for both the “Turbo” models is rated at 260 km/h.
The Taycan 4S is perhaps the one that would put buyers in a dilemma; especially those after a non-SUV, 4-door Porsche. That’s cause it’s cheaper than the Panamera but more powerful, and with the Performance Battery Plus add-on, it’ll (on paper) offer up to 463 km of pure electric driving range.
