Video: IAA 2019: Porsche Taycan electric sports car in Frankfurt, 5 Things

Porsche at the IAA Frankfurt motor show 2019 unveiled their first ever fully electric car, the Porsche Taycan, and our own GC Mah was there to take it all in.

The Taycan comes in two variants for now — the Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S. No, there are no turbochargers nor exhaust systems in the Taycan of course, the first all-electric models introduced by Porsche. GC Mah talks you through the key points in the video below:

Both variants are powered by two permanent synchronous motors (PSM) pushing 625 hp to all four wheels, however Porsche’s overboost technology gives the Turbo S a peak power of up to 761 hp and 1050 Nm of torque, while the Turbo settles at a ‘modest’ 680 hp and 850 Nm. The Taycan Turbo S does the century run in just 2.8 seconds (3.2s for the Turbo), with 0-200 km/h in a searing 9.8 seconds.
