Denza’s third model in Malaysia, the Denza Z9 GT, is now launched in Malaysia, marking the first market in Asia-Pacific outside of China to welcome the model. The headline figure here is that the Denza Z9 GT in Malaysia is powered by three traction motors, which enable a bonkers output of 1,156 hp and 1,210 Nm of torque. These are sent to all four wheels, which enables 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h.
These horses will be fed by a second-generation BYD Blade LFP battery with a capacity of 122.49 kWh, enabling a range of 600 km (WLTP). Charging is supported with 10-70% in just five minutes, or 10-97% in nine minutes, thanks to BYD’s Megawatt Flash Charging technology, which is confirmed to arrive in Malaysia sometime in the future.
Besides having raw outright performance, the Denza Z9 GT also comes with a few party tricks. These come in the form of the “Crab Walk” feature that enables the car to literally drive sideways and the “Pencil Compass Turn”, which essentially uses the rear traction motors to pivot and slide into tight parallel parking spots automatically.
Paired with standard dual-chamber air suspension for better driving dynamics and comfort, the Z9 GT can lower itself by 50 mm. If you thought manoeuvring a five-metre-long car would be tedious, Denza thought of your pains. They equipped the Z9 GT with rear-wheel steering, which enables up to 20 degrees of rotation and reduces the turning radius to 4.62 metres.
These powertrain goodies are packaged in a shooting brake body measuring 5,180 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,490 mm tall, with a substantial 3,125 mm wheelbase. For context, the Z9 GT is comparable in footprint to the Denza B8, stretching out to be only marginally shorter in length than the Denza D9 MPV.
This footprint is wrapped in the brand’s “Elegance in Motion” styling, masking its grand tourer proportions with a sleek silhouette, a two-tier split taillight setup, and a retractable rear spoiler. Standard exterior equipment of the Denza Z9 GT includes:
