Could the supercar-beating 925 hp Zeekr 009 arrive in Malaysia soon?

In early 2026, Zeekr Malaysia announced it would launch three new models. Among the trio, the Zeekr 9X is confirmed for a local debut and joining it could be a refreshed Zeekr X and a Zeekr 009. This could mean that the updated MPV or perhaps a new variant could be introduced locally this year. If the current 612 hp isn’t enough for your daily commute, the updated model boasts 925 hp and 913 Nm of torque, and it was on display at Auto China 2026.

This is a luxury MPV that has more power than some supercars on the market, which chauffeurs you from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 220 km/h. For comparison, the current Zeekr 009 sold in Malaysia in the Luxury and Ultra-Luxury variants has an AWD powertrain making 612 hp and 693 Nm. This means the updated 009 delivers an additional 313 hp and 220 Nm over the pre-update MPV.

These outputs are achieved through the use of a new 900V architecture, which underpins a 115 kWh battery, enabling a range of 720 km according to the optimistic CLTC standards. With support for 6C charging, this battery can recharge from 10-80% in only 10 minutes with a compatible DC charger.

However, if 925 hp is too extreme for your commutes, there is a front-wheel drive variant with 421 hp and 440 Nm, enabling 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. This is underpinned by an 800V architecture and a 108 kWh battery, providing a range of 740 km (CLTC), and it is capable of a 10-80% recharge in 11.5 minutes.

Unlike an uncomfortable 925 hp supercar, you will be surrounded by luxury. An updated dual-chamber air suspension offers a reaction speed four times faster for a more comfortable ride, and you can enjoy your playlist through an upgraded 31-speaker Naim Audio sound system.

The second-row captain chairs now swivel 180 degrees for easier entry and exit, and can even face the third row to create a lounge area for important business meetings. They retain Soft Nappa leather upholstery, heating, ventilation, leg rests, massaging, and built-in tray tables. Third-row passengers also get heated, ventilated and four-way power-adjustable seats.

Moving upfront, the driver is greeted by a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 35.95-inch AR heads-up display. The rest of the cabin is dominated by a 16-inch 3.5K centre infotainment display, a digital rearview mirror and a ceiling-mounted 17-inch display. Managing the suite of ADAS features is a Nvidia processor with 700 TOPS of computing power.

Aside from changes in the interior, the exterior of the updated Zeekr 009 also sees some minor changes. The most obvious is the inclusion of turquoise lights. These are activated when the 009’s ADAS features are in use, following China’s new regulations regarding autonomous driving signals.

It is not known if Zeekr Malaysia will introduce the updated 009 or a new, posher variant of the luxury MPV. The latter would be the Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition, which features an interior configured with only four seats, 24k gold-plated hubcaps and hand-polished gold trim throughout the cabin.

If it does arrive, expect the Grand Collector’s Edition to be priced significantly higher than the RM299,800 to RM359,800 commanded by the current 009 sold in Malaysia. However, if we are indeed getting the updated 009, one has to wonder if it can maintain its current price tag despite the extra power and features, or even be sold for less.
