Hyundai is officially entering the Mainland Chinese market with the introduction of its Ioniq electric sub-brand. To mark the arrival in a typically grandiose fashion, the carmaker has unveiled two all-electric concept cars dubbed the Venus Concept sedan and the Earth Concept family SUV.
These vehicles were developed specifically for China and offer a preview of the future direction Hyundai intends to take across the mainland. Going interstellar with its marketing, the company claims its new “universe” strategy features models named after planets that “orbit” the customer. Guided by the ethos of “Lead, don’t follow”, both concepts ditch traditional sedan shapes for what Hyundai calls a unique single-curve silhouette.

The Venus Concept sedan presents itself as a wedge-shaped car reminiscent of sci-fi cinema. Hyundai notes that the vehicle features a lightweight, frame-structured roof alongside a transparent spoiler. In keeping with its planetary namesake, the concept is finished in a striking “Radiant Gold” paint job.
In a stark departure from the actual planet’s inhospitable hellscape, the Venus Concept sedan interior features a driver-focused, wrap-around cockpit. The cabin includes ambient lighting meant to evoke a glowing atmosphere and a mix of materials ranging from soft suede to chrome-gold seatback covers.

For a more playful connection, a digital mascot named “Lumi” has been integrated into the design, suggesting the use of AI within the concept’s infotainment system.
As for the Earth Concept family SUV, it adopts the same futuristic design language as its sedan counterpart, complete with rear-hinged suicide doors and a paint job titled “Aurora Shield”.
The interior follows a “Small Earth” theme, featuring “air-hug” seats made of soft air modules. Hyundai claims the cabin offers a calm space through the use of “shy-tech” elements and mood lighting that mimics tree shadows. Adding a nod to the local market, the SUV includes hidden map patterns of Beijing and a second digital character named “Aero”.
That is essentially all Hyundai has revealed for these two design concepts ahead of their official debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24. We will have to wait for the full unveiling to see how closely these concepts preview their production successors. However, with these wedge-shaped designs, we may soon see more cars like this duo gracing our roads as the 2030s approach.
