2026 Proton X50 now available with Quartz Black colour on all variants, replacing Passion Red

Proton is now making Quartz Black a new standard colour option for the X50, available on all variants of the popular B-segment crossover. The national carmaker says the new colour is introduced as a response to the success of the X50 Black Edition it unveiled last month, which was only limited to 200 units for the Flagship variant.

The new black colour will be offered at no added cost, with prices for the all-new Proton X50 starting at RM89,800 for the Executive variant, RM101,800 for the Premium, and the range-topping Flagship at RM113,300, all on-the-road, without insurance.

It has however replaced the Passion Red colour in the colour palette, which means the bright red paint job is now no longer available on any Proton models (replaced by Ruby Red on the new 2026 Proton S70). Other colour offerings for the X50 include Snow White, Jet Grey, Armour Silver, and Teal Bayou Green.

Compared to the other flashier colours, the new Quartz Black on the Proton X50 certainly gives off a more subdued appearance – perhaps as it better masks the ginormous front grille – yet still highlighting the chrome and red accents of the crossover’s exterior design.

Aside from aesthetics, though, Proton says in its press release that the black colour is also usually seen as the “safe choice” in the resale market due to a stronger residual value, and thus is preferred by certain buyer groups.
