The Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) has been launched in the island nation of Mauritius by Proton International Corporation Sdn Bhd (PICSB). Two variants are on offer, namely Prime and Premium, priced at 1.69 million rupees (approx. RM157k) and 1.85 million rupees (approx. RM172k) respectively.
Initial units will be fully imported (CBU) from China and shipped to Mauritius via PICSB in Malaysia, although the company plans to export Malaysian-assembled (CKD) units from Proton’s EV plant in Tanjung Malim in the future.
The launch of the eMAS 7 in Mauritius marks the fourth export market for Proton’s first EV model, following its debut in Trinidad and Tobago, Nepal, and Singapore. It is also the third most popular export model in the company’s lineup behind the Proton Saga and the Proton X50, according to Proton.
The first 10 units of the Proton eMAS 7 in Mauritius were delivered to customers during the launch event, which was held in Port Louis.
Specifications for the Proton eMAS 7 in Mauritius mirrors that of Malaysia. The Prime variant gets a 49.52 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 345 km (WLTP). The Premium variant, meanwhile, features a larger 60.22 kWh battery, extending its range up to 410 km (WLTP). Both variants are powered by a front-mounted electric motor delivering 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm.
In conjunction with the launch of the eMAS 7, Proton Mauritius is introducing an exclusive early-bird promotion for the first 30 customers, which includes a free wallbox charger and a free e.motion card. Customers who purchase the Premium variant will receive an additional five years or 150,000 km of free service.
Since its debut in late 2024, a total of 6,500 units of the Proton eMAS 7 have been delivered domestically and internationally. Currently, the eMAS 7 in Malaysia is CBU from China, but that will soon change once operations at Proton’s EV plant ramps up.
