Is the updated BYD Seal making its way to Malaysia?

It looks like Malaysia is next on BYD’s list to receive the updated electric BYD Seal, as BYD Malaysia has posted a teaser on its Facebook account showing a visual with two seals swimming in the ocean.

For the updated BYD Seal, the most significant change is that the BYD Seal is now equipped with the DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System.

This is the same suspension found on the Denza D9, but while the system is tuned for comfort on the Denza, on the BYD Seal, it is aimed at improving the car’s stability by minimising body roll. The update also introduces a new 19-inch alloy wheel design, as seen on the Seal facelift in China.

Based on the BYD Seal in the Singapore market, it comes with a slightly larger frunk at 53 litres, compared to the current 50 litres. There’s also a powered sunshade for the panoramic sunroof, which is absent from the BYD Seal in Malaysia.

In China, the updated Seal also gains a LiDAR sensor, which enhances its ADAS capabilities, though it remains to be seen if it would be introduced in Malaysia.

Currently, the BYD Seal is sold in three variants in Malaysia including the Dynamic, Premium, and Performance. Prices range from RM163,800 to RM199,800.

Powering the base BYD Seal Dynamic is a rear-mounted electric motor that makes 204 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm of torque. Stepping up to the Premium variant sees output increased to 313 hp (230 kW) and 360 Nm.

The top-range Performance variant gains a front-mounted electric motor for a combined output of 530 hp (390 kW) and 670 Nm, for a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.8 seconds.

As for battery sizes, the base Dynamic variant is equipped with a 61.44 kWh BYD Blade Battery, with 460 km (WLTP) of range. The Premium and Performance variants are equipped with a larger 82.56 kWh battery, for a range of 570 km (WLTP) for the Premium and 520 km (WLTP) for the Performance variant.
